CHAP. 167.

ty, who may feel themselves aggrieved by the present
management of said school districts, to appoint three ju-
dicious and discreet commissioners to examine into the
state and condition of said school district, and to report
such alteration, amendment, change or division of said
district or districts, as they may deem advisable under

Proviso.

the circumstances; provided however, that such altera-
tion, amendment, change or division shall be subject to
the ratification and confirmation of the said commission-
ers of Talbot county, upon notice thereof being given in
one or more of the newspapers published in Talbot coun-
ty, for thirty days, of the intended ratification of such
proposed change, alteration, amendment or division.

Return of com-
missioners to
be recorded.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That every return of com-
missioners made as above, for the alteration, change,
amendment or division of any school district or districts
in said county, shall be recorded in the books of the
commissioners of said county, and numbered, designated
and described therein.

Authorised to
levy.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
for Talbot county be, and they are hereby authorised,
empowered and required to levy and assess upon the
assessable property of said county, such sura or sums of
money as may be necessary for any such change, amend-
ment, alteration or division of any of said school dis-
tricts.

Powers and
privileges.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the majority of the
taxable inhabitants of any newly created school district,
shall have all the powers and privileges necessary for the
building, erecting or procuring a school house or houses
therein, and for other purposes relative thereto, as com-
pared by the original law to which this is a supplement,
and the several supplements thereto, any law to the con*
trary thereof notwithstanding.

In case of di-
vision, &c.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That in case of the divi-
sion, alteration or change of any school district in said
county under the provisions of this act, wherein a school
house is now located, built by the taxable inhabitants of
said district, it shall be and is hereby made the duty of
the commissioners of Talbot county, upon due notice
given, to proceed to sell and dispose of said school house,
and to divide the proceeds of such sale rateably and
fairly between such newly created district, having refer-
ence to the population, number and territory of the old
and newly created district.
