CHAPTER 145.

A supplement to an act entitled, an act for the more effec-
tual protection of Public Worship in this State, passed
at December session, eighteen hundred and twenty-four,
chapter fifty-three.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, nothing in
the act entitled, an act for the better protection of pub-
lic worship in this State, passed at December session,
eighteen hundred and twenty-four, shall be so construed
as to prevent the several county courts of this State, and
Howard District and the city court of Baltimore, from
having and exercising jurisdiction in any case in which,
said courts exercised jurisdiction before the passing of
the said act.

CHAPTER 146.

Passed Feb.
25, 1847.

An act for the relief of Benjamin S. Ireland, administra-
tor of Richard E. Ireland, late Sheriff and Collector
of Calvert County.

Authorised to
collect.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Benjamin S. Ireland, administrator of
Richard E. Ireland, late sheriff and collector of Calvert
county be, and he is hereby authorised to collect all fees,
taxes and claims due to the late Richard E. Ireland, in
virtue of his office as sheriff and collector, and the said
Benjamin S. Ireland, is hereby empowered to make col-
lection of all such dues in the same manner as the said
Richard E. Ireland would have been as sheriff and col-
lector of Calvert county.

Oath or affir-
mation, &c.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Benjamin S.
Ireland, before he proceeds to execute for any fees, taxes
or other dues aforesaid, shall present to each indebted
individual at least thirty days before he proceeds to exe-
cute a bill of such claim or claims, with an affidavit
thereto annexed, and if such individual or individuals
shall make oath or affirmation before a justice of the
peace of Calvert county, that he, she or they had paid
or settled such demands with the late Richard E. Ireland,
his deputies or agents, then such oath or affirmation shall
