which they may have in the State's arms now in their
possession, or that which they have invested, or may
hereafter invest, in erecting and completing a gun house
or armory for the protection and preservation of their
battery and munitions of war.

CHAP. 69.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
and their successors, by the name and title aforesaid,
shall be capable in law to sue and be sued, plead and be
impleaded, answer and be answered unto, defend and be
defended in all and any courts of justice and before all
and any judges, officers or persons whatsoever in all and
singular actions, matters or demands whatsoever.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
shall have power to hold stated meetings, to establish and
put into execution, alter or establish such by-laws, rules
and regulations as to them shall seem most conducive to
the interests of said Artillery Company; provided, that
its military organization be in all respects governed by
such laws as apply to the Regimental Brigade or Di-
vision to which it may at present or at any future period
be attached.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That all notes, obligations
or evidences of debt shall be signed by the captain, one
other commissioned officer and the treasurer of said Com-
pany; no such obligation to be binding unless executed
in obedience to a resolution of the corps, passed at a
meeting of the same, a notice of which meeting shall
have been published in one daily newspaper of the city
of Baltimore at least forty-eight hours previous thereto,
and that not less than ten members including one com-
missioned officer shall constitute a quorum for the trans-
action of any business.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the said Eagle Artil-
lery Company is authorised to receive in addition to its
regular compliment of officers and men, fifty contributing
as honorary members, who upon the payment of five
dollars annually, shall be" entitled to all the privileges and
exemptions at present enjoyed by the officers and men of
the first Light Division of Maryland Volunteers.

SEC. 6. And be enacted, That nothing in this act shall
be so construed as to authorise the said Company as a
corporation to issue any note, token, device or other ev-
idence of debt to be used as a currency.
SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the right is hereby
expressly reserved to the legislature, at its pleasure to
amend or annul this act of incorporation.
