LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 362.

present beginning on the main stem of the Baltimore and
Susquehanna rail road to the town of Westminster in Car-
roll county.

When lateral
road is com-
pleted, lien to
be surrendered.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That so soon as the said
branch or lateral rail road shall have been constructed
and completed under the provisions of this act, one-half
the distance from its beginning on the main stem of the
Baltimore and Susquehanna rail road to the town of
Westminster, in Carroll county, all and every existing
lien, mortgage or claim of the State of Maryland, of in
and to the said branch or lateral road shall cease, deter-

mine and is hereby surrendered; provided nevertheless,
that nothing in this act contained, shall be taken, consid-
ered or construed, as in any manner releasing, discharg-
ing or impairing any lien, claim or right of any kind,
which the said State now has of, in, to and over the
main stem of the said Baltimore and Susquehanna rail
road.

To be accept-
ed in general
meeting.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That this act shall have
no force, validity or effect until the same shall have been
approved of and assented to by the stockholders of the
Baltimore and Susquehanna rail road in general meeting,
and by the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore.

Issues forbid.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall be so construed as to authorise the said corporation
to issue any note, token, scrip, device, or other evidence
of debt to be used as currency.

Limits.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That the powers grant-
ed by this act, shall not be construed so as to allow the
location or construction of said road, and the running of
cars and locomotives, nearer than three hundred yards,
to any powder works or manufactory of powder, that
may be now located on or near the proposed line of said
road.

CHAPTER 362.

Passed Mar.
10, 1846.

A supplement to an act entitled, an act to incorporate the
Metamora Tribe, Number Four, of the Improved Order
of Red Men of the State of Maryland.

Repealed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That so much of the first section of the act to
which this is a supplement, which provides that the body
incorporated by said act, shall not any time hold or pos-
