the dividends and interest of the individual stockholders
and owners of certificates in said company.

CHAP. 360.

SEC. 17. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
shall be so construed so as to authorise the said corpora-
tion to issue any note, token, device, or other evidence
of debt to be used as currency.

Issues forbid.

SEC. 18. And be it enacted, That the legislature re-
serves the right to alter or annul this act of incorpora-
tion at pleasure.


CHAPTER, 360.

An act to incorporate the town railed and known by the
name of Manchester and Germantown, in Carroll
County, under the common name of Manchester.

Passed March
10, 1846.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the citizens of the town commonly call-
ed and known by the name of Manchester and German-
town, in Carroll county, shall be and they are hereby
constituted and made a body corporate, under the com-
mon name of the Commissioners of Manchester, with all
the privileges of a body corporate, and to have a com-
mon seal and perpetual succession.

Incorporated.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the free male while
citizens of Manchester aforesaid, of the age of twenty-
one years and upwards, and who have resided in the said
place for and during the space of six months next pre-
ceding the election, shall on the first Saturday in April
next, and in each and every year thereafter, at the house
now occupied as a tavern by William Crumrine, or at such
other place as the commissioners thereafter shall direct,
to elect five commissioners, who shall each be the propri-
etors of a house and lot within the limits of said village,
and who shall have resided within the limits of the same
six months next preceding the election.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That a justice of the peace
for the time being, residing in the said town, shall appoint
by writing under his hand and seal, one judge to hold
the first election, who shall keep the polls open from two
o'clock, P. M, until four o'clock, P. M., of the same
