county, be and they are hereby created a corporation for
the encouragement of agriculture, by the name and style
of the Agricultural Society of Somerset county, and by
that name shall have perpetual succession, may take,

hold and possess real and personal estate not exceeding
live thousand dollars in value, and the same grant, sell
and convey; and shall have full power and authority to
establish agricultural exhibitions,. and regulate the same,
grant premiums, and do any matter or thing in its judg-
ment conducive to the promotion of agriculture in the
said county, it shall keep a journal of its proceedings,
and establish rules and regulations for its own govern-

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all vacancies which
may occur in the members of said society by death, re-
signation, removal from the said county or refusal to act,

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall not be law-
ful for said society, to issue any note or other paper, in
the nature of a bank note to circulate as money; and it
shall at all times be lawful for the General Assembly of
this State to repeal or modify this act.
