CHAPTER 195.

CHAP. 196.

An act for the relief of the administrators of William
Thomas, deceased, late Deputy Sheriff of Prince George's
County.

1846.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That William Hilleary and Richard G. Cross,
administrators of William Thomas, deceased, late depu-
ty sheriff of Prince George's county, be and they are
hereby authorised and empowered to collect by execution,
and receive all and every balance or amount of officer
fees, chancery taxes, fines and forfeitures, and all other
sums which were due to and remained uncollected by
the said William Thomas, as deputy sheriff of Prince

George's county.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That if any person against
whom there is a claim by the aforesaid administrators,
shall make affidavit before a justice of the peace of Prince
George's county, that the same has been paid at any
previous time, it shall prevent the said administrators
from collecting said claim or claims, in the manner pre-
scribed by law for collecting such claim or claims, but

they shall have power to collect them as small debts are
now collected; and provided, also, that nothing in this

act contained, shall be construed to affect the estate of
a deceased person, except to authorise the said adminis-
trators to recover any claim or balance due by a deceased
person, in the same manner that claims against deceased
persons are now recovered by law.

CHAPTER 196.

Proviso.

An act for the better collection of the Public Revenue.

8, 1846.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act,
in all cases in which real estate or property of any other
description shall have been seized and taken in execution
at the suit of the State, it shall be lawful for the Attor-
ney General or his deputy, for the proper county, to bid
for and purchase said real estate or other property, at the
sale thereof, for the use of the State, if in the opinion of
the Attorney General, or his said deputy, it shall be ne-
