CHAP. 150.

the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road Company be, and they
are hereby authorised to reduce the rate of tolls for pas-
sengers, passing from some place beyond the city of Bal-
timore to some place beyond the city of Washington,
and vice versa, from some place, beyond the city of
Washington to some place beyond the. city of Baltimore,
from time to time in their discretion, upon the Washing-
ton Branch of said road, by carrying them to and from
the respective cities of Baltimore and Washington, for

such sum as in their discretion they may adopt; provided,
that one-fifth of all such passage money so received, be
accounted for, and paid into the State Treasury as now
required by law.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the legislature reserves
the right at all times, to repeal, modify, or change this
law.

CHAPTER 150.

Passed Feb.
24, 1846.

An act for the relief of Richard Sunderland, Collector
of the State taxes for Calvert County.

Bond released.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Richard Sunderland, collector of the
State taxes for Calvert county, for the years eighteen
hundred and forty-one and eighteen hundred and forty-
five, and his sureties be, and they are hereby relieved
from the obligation of the bond given by the said Ri-
chard Sunderland to the State of Maryland, as collector
aforesaid, upon his paying over to the Treasurer of the
Western Shore, all taxes which have been or may be
paid to him as collector aforesaid.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the levy court
of Calvert county be, and they are hereby authorised to
levy for the said Richard Sunderland, such sum of money
as in their judgment may be a suitable compensation to
the said Richard Sunderland, for his trouble and expenses
incurred by him as collector aforesaid.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the levy court of
Calvert county, be and they are hereby empowered to
levy upon the assessable property in said county, for the
use of the several tax payers who have paid their direct
taxes, to the said Richard Sunderland, for the years eigh-
