1845.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the whole of the pen-
alty imposed by the act above referred to, upon persons
engaged in the business above mentioned, shall, upon
the conviction of such delinquents, be paid to, and enure
to the benefit of the sheriff so giving such information to
said grand jury, who shall nevertheless, not thereby be
disqualified from being received as a competent witness,
in such cases.

ed.

An act to give to Peter W Gibbons and John Moke, fur-
ther time to complete their collections.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the time in which Peter W. Gibbons and John
Moke, late collectors of tax in Baltimore county, should
have made their collections, be extended to both of them
until the first clay of July, eighteen hundred and forty-

seven; provided, they comply with the first section of an
act passed December session, eighteen hundred and for-
ty-three, chapter ninety-six.

CHAPTER 143.

Proviso.

An act repealing an act passed at December session, eigh-
teen hundred and forty four, chapter one hundred and
six, so far as the same changes the time for the appoint-
ment of Supervisors of Roads in Cecil County.

Passed Feb.
24, 1846.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the act of Assembly. passed at Decem-
ber session, eighteen hundred and forty-four, chapter
one hundred and six, so far as the said act changes the
time for the appointment of supervisors of public roads
in Cecil county, be and the same is hereby repealed.

Repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the supervisors of
public roads, appointed under the provisions of the said
act of December session, eighteen hundred and forty-
four, chapter one hundred and six, shall continue in office,
and have full authority to act as supervisors, until their
successors are appointed by the board of commissioners
