VALUATION AND ASSESSMENT, &c-
In the execution of the powers confer-
red on Governor by 12th section of act of
1843, ch. 208, not to be restricted but at
liberty to take them from any part of the
State to discharge the duties prescribed by

If collector believe he will be resisted,

to have power to summons posse, &c. as

hereinbefore provided.
Agents to receive taxes, &c. mny receive
bonds or sealed notes from taxables inhab-
itants payable not more than one year from
date for arrearages from 1841,2, '3,'4, with
interest, &c. which bonds, &c. said agents
to deposit with clerks of the counties tak-
ing duplicate receipts,&c. one to be kept by
agent the other transmitted to Treasurer.
Said notes or bonds to be liens on real
and personal estate of parties signing the
same, if said bonds, &c. are not paid
within 30 days, execution to be issued,
executions as upon judgments, &c. money
to be paid into treasury, &c. after deduct-

ing commission of one percent.
Clerks of county courts and appeal tax
courts, to transmit annually, within thirty
|

days after annual levy, to treasurer, return
of assessments, &c, also amount of tax-
es, &c; and for neglect, clerk so neglect-
ing to be subject to punishment and fine of

$100, for use of the State
Deputies of Attorney General to give in-
formation of neglect to Grand Jury, upon
being advised of such neglect, &c, by the

treasurer.
The Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more, the levy courts and commissioners,
when a levy his not been made, for pay-
ment of commissions to collectors, to levy
a tax for paying said collectors, according
to the provisions of the 47th section of the
|
