RUNAWAY SERVANTS & SLAVES.—The time al-

   

lowed for taking up, between the ages of

   

15 and 45, more than 20 and less than 30

   

miles from residence of owner, $15; if un-

   

der 15 or more than 45 years of age, $7,-

   

50, if apprehended more than 30 miles

   

from the residence of owner, $50, if more

   

than 15 or under 45 yenrs of age, and if

   

under 15 or more than 45, $25. No re-

   

ward to be paid for taking up any slave in

   

the county in which said slave is hired or

   

his owner resides.

When apprehended within a free State,

   

the sum for taking up, $100, or one-half

   

the value of such slave, at the option of

   

the owner; this not to apply to the coun-

   

ties of this State bordering on Pennsylva-

   

nia. Where a slave may have been act-

   

vertised as a runaway in a sum greater

   

than is allowed by this act, the said sum

   

shall be deemed as including the amount

   

to which the person taking up would be

   

entitled to.
