To recover for completing same, the

   

fees allowed by law, Fees to be received

   

from old officers &c. when they have been

   

paid to retiring officers and when not paid

   

to be recovered by new officers From the

   

parties, &c.

Act not to operate until six months after

   

said clerks shall have vacated their offices,

   

and during that period, retiring clerks &c.

   

to have all needful papers to enable them

   

to complete their business, &c.

All fees due to &c, on the 1st of Febr'y.

tional limitation on said day shall be re-

   

ceived and collected by the sheriffs in the

   

same manner as heretofore, sheriff to have

   

same power of collecting and be liable to

   

said clerks &c. as now provided for &c.

   

said clerks not to be deprived from collec-

   

ting fees by warrant.

sheriff on or before 1st day of June, 1845,

   

and be. collected on or before 1st January,

   

1846, and be accounted for, on failure

   

bonds to he liable to be put in suit, &c.

COLLATERAL INHERITANCES, DISTRIBU-

   

TIVE SHARES AND LEGACIES—Af-

   

ter 1st June, all estates of any kind, pass-

   

ing from any person dying, seized, in this

   

State, either by will or under intestate

   

laws, &c. made or intended to take effect,

   

&c. after death'of grantor, &c. to any per-

   

son, &c. in trtist or otherwise, other

   

than to use of the Father, &c. shall be sub-

   

ject to a tax of two and one half per cent

   

on every $100 of clear value of such es-

   

tate, &c. to be paid to use of State, and all

   

executors, &c. shnll only be discharged

   

from liability of amount of such tax, the

   

payment of which they may be charged

   

with, by paying the same over to the use
