CHAP. 297.

to itself the power of altering, amending or repealing the
same, and all the provisions thereof, at any time here-
after.

Issues forbid.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the incorporation shall
not be permitted to issue any note, token, device or other
evidence of debt, to be used as a currency.

 

CHAPTER 296.

An act to regulate the compensation of Jurors, Judges of
the Orphan's Court, and Members of the Levy Court of
Calvert County, and for other purposes.

Per diem of
jurors, &c.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That each and every juror and bailiff hereafter
summoned to the county court of Calvert county, shall be
entitled to receive for each day they shall attend as jurors
and bailiffs, the sum of one dollar, and the judges of the
orphan's court, and members of the levy court, shall be
entitled to receive the sum of one dollar and fifty cents,
for each day that each of said judges of the orphan's court
and members of the levy court shall serve in their different

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That hereafter the annual
salary of the clerk of the levy court shall be two hundred
dollars, and no more.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That at the next ensuing
election, the judges of the election in Calvert county shall
ask the question of each voter as he deposits his vote,
whether he is in favor or not of this act; and if a majority
of the voters shall be in favor of this law, then the same-
shall be deemed to be in full force and effect, and not other-
wise; and this act shall take effect until such new elec-
tion is had.

Repealed.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That all acts inconsistent
with or repugnant to the provisions of this act, so far as
relates to Calvert county, be and the same are hereby re-
pealed.
