CHAP. 271.

Clerk of coun-
ty to perform
duty.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That all the duties here-
tofore discharged by the clerk to the commissioners of the
tax of Frederick county, shall be performed by the clerk
of the levy court of said county.

No additional
compensation.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the clerk of the levy
court of Frederick county, shall receive no additional
compensation for performing any of the duties prescribed
by this act.

Seal.

SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That the levy court
of Frederick county, be authorised and directed to pro-
cure a seal for said court, which court shall be considered
a court of record, and all copies of papers on record in
said office certified by the clerk of said levy court under
seal of office, shall be received in evidence in any court of

An act to incorporate the Gray Manufacturing Company.

Incorporated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Edward Gray, John P. Kennedy,
Charles Marean, William H. Keighler, and James Har-
wood, their associates, successors and assigns, are here-
by made and declared to be a body corporate, by the name
of the Gray Manufacturing Company; and by that name
may sue and bo sued in any court of law or equity, and
may make and use a common seal, and alter the same at
pleasure; and may have and use all the rights, powers and
privileges necessary or proper for manufacturing cotton,
wool, iron, cotton machinery, woollen machinery, and
other articles, and for vending the same when made; and
to purchase, hold, and use leal and personal estate, and
to construct such buildings and improvements on their
lands as may be necessary to carry on their said business;
and the said estate, or any part thereof, to sell and con-
vey, or otherwise dispose of, as they may deem proper;
and generally to do all such acts, and to pass and enforce
such by-laws and regulations, as may be necessary and
proper for conducting the business of said corporation,
the same not being contrary to law, or to the provisions
of this act.
