LAWS OF MARYLAND.

1844.

SEC. 7 And be further enacted, That this act shall be
referred to the consideration of the persons holding certi-
ficates of stock in the said City Hotel, at their next election
to be held on the first Monday of March, eighteen hundred
and forty-five, for approval or rejection; and that at said
election every stockholder or his agent or proxy qualified
to vote, shall endorse on his, her or their ballot for or against
said act, and in case a majority of the certificates or shares
of stock voted at such election shall be in favor of this act,
then and from thereafter, this act and its several provisions
shall be in full force; and if a majority of the certificates or
shares of stock voted at such election, shall dissent from
the provisions of this act, the same shall be of no force or
authority, and the judge or judges of election shall make
return in the manner hereinbefore provided, of the number
of shares of stock represented by persons holding certifi-
cates of stock assenting or dissenting from the provisions
of this act.

CHAPTER 18.

An act to confirm and make valid the proceedings of Jacob
Summers, of J., a Justice of the Peace of Frederick
County.

20, 1845.

WHEREAS, it has been represented to this General As-
sembly, that doubts are entertained as to the validity of
the acts of Jacob Summers, of J., a Justice of the Peace
of Frederick county, in consequence of the said Summers
having received his appointment under the name of Jacob
Summers simply—Therefore,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That all the acts and proceedings of the said Jacob Sum-
mers, of J., done in his capacity and character of Magis-
trate, be and the same are hereby confirmed and made
