derick county, conveyed a certain infant female slave,
named Polly, to a certain Guy Pinkney, the grand father of
the said infant, to be held and owned by him until the said
infant should attain the age of twelve years, and then to be
free; AND WHEREAS, it appears that said conveyance and
deed of manumission, was neglected to be acknowledged
or recorded, according to the provisions of law—There-
fore,

CHAP. 196.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the said instrument of writing shall be, and the same
is hereby declared to be as good and valid, to all intents
and purposes, as if the same had been regularly acknowl-
edged and recorded, according to the laws regulating the
acknowledgment and recording of deeds of manumission.

CHAPTER 194.
An act entitled, an act to establish a Primary School at
Shaffersville, in Howard District.
|

6, 1846.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That all that part of Howard District, including
Shaffersville, and its vicinity, to the distance of one and a
half miles therefrom, making an area of three miles square,
with said village in the centre, be and the same is hereby
erected into a separate and distinct primary school dis-
trict.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said district shall
be governed in all its proceedings by the same laws, rules
and regulations as now govern other primary school dis-
tricts in said district, and entitled to all the privileges, ad-
vantages and emoluments that other primary school dis-
tricts in said district do now or may hereafter enjoy.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That William Crane, James Hall, and John
H. B. Latrobe, be and are hereby authorised to act as
commissioners to open books for the subscriptions to the
