f RESOLUTIONS.
Whereas the journal of accounts was ordered to be closed including Sunday last, and the business of the state
las required the attendance of the members longer than was expected, therefore RESOLVED, That the treasu-
rer of the western-shore and he is hereby required, to pay to each member of the legislature attending on
this day, two days allowance in addition to what was allowed on the journal of accounts, and also two days al-
lowance to the officers of each house.
RESOLVED, That the governor and council be authorised to furnish the house of delegates with twenty one
convenient writing desks, with four separate drawers each, for the use of the delegation from each county, and
the delegation from the city of Annapolis and Baltimore, and that each desk be marked for the use of the par-
ticular county or city, and that the expence of providing the same be paid out of any unappropriated money in
the treasury.
Whereas this general assembly of Maryland, viewing with sensations of the greatest pleasure the brave and
gallant conduct of Charles Gordon, John Trippe and John Davis in the several attacks on the enemy's gun
boats off Tripoli, whereby they secured to themselves immortal glory, and gave a brilliant lustre to the navy of
the United States And whereas this legislature feel an anxious wish to bear the most honourable testimony to
the bravery of these manly defenders of then country, therefore RESOLVED unanimously, That the governor
and council be and they are hereby authorised and required, to procure three elegant swords and belts, with an
appropriate engraving and motto, emblematic of the glorious actions fought off Tripoli, and cause the same to
be delivered to the said Charles Gordon, John Trippe and John Davis, in testimony of the high sense of appro-
bation the legislature of this state entertain of their gallant conduct
