1805.

CHAP. XXXIX.

A Further additional supplement to an act, entitled, An act to esta-
blish a market in Frederick-town, in Frederick county and for
the regulation of the said market.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of sundry inhabitants of
Frederick-town, in Frederick county, that many inconveniencies arise under the present re-
gulations of the market therein established, and the said petitioners having prayed that certain
iterations may be made in the several laws relating thereto, so as to obviate and prevent in future
the said inconveniencies:; and the prayer of the petition appearing reasonable, therefore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the market-hours for said market
shall be from the time daylight sets in to nine o'clock in the morning; and it shall be the duty of
the clerk of said market, at the opening of the said market, to give notice thereof, by ringing a bell,
or giving some other signal; and if any person or persons shall sell or purchase any provisions be-
fore the market-hours aforesaid, such person or persons shall forfeit and pay, for every such offence,
sum not exceeding five dollars, to be recovered before a justice of the peace, to be applied to the
purposes of the original act.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That from and after the passage of this act, in all cases of engrossing
or forestalling, it shall and may be lawful for the clerk of the said market to procure a warrant in
his name against such offender, and have him taken before a justice of the peace, who is hereby au-
thorised and required, upon the establishment of the charge by legal and competent testimony, to
order and adjudge that such offender pay a fine, not exceeding five dollars, to be applied to the pur-
poses of the original act.

IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall and may be lawful for the levy court of said county, at
their first session after the passage of this act, and annually for ever thereafter, to appoint the clerk
of the said market, who shall account with,. and be responsible to, the said levy court, in the same
manner in which he is now directed to account with the county court of said county.

V. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the clerk of the said market now appointed shall continue to
have, hold and exercise, all the power and duties of such station, until a new appointment shall
take place agreeably to the provisions of this act, any thing in the act to which this is a supplement,
or the several supplements thereto, to the contrary notwithstanding.

C H A P. XL.

A Supplement to an act, entitled, An act to prevent the exportation
of flour not merchantable, and unsound salted provisions, from
the port of Havre- de-Grace.

WHEREAS by the act to which this is a supplement it is provided, that an inspector shall be
appointed for the district of Havre-de-Grace, for the inspection of salted beef, pork and fish,
of every kind; therefore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful for any
person or persons carrying fish, or other salted provisions, from the district of Havre-de-Grace to
the district of Baltimore to sell, or otherwise dispose of the same, without being subject to a rein-
spection within the district of Baltimore; provided, that the said fish, and other salted provisions,
so carried from the aforesaid district of Havre-de-Grace to the district of Baltimore, be inspected
within the said district of Havre-de-Grace by a regular inspector, appointed by the commissioners
of the town of Havre-de-Grace, any thing contained in any other law or ordinance of the city of
Baltimore to the contrary notwithstanding.

CHAP. XLI.

An ACT to confirm a division of the real property of the Havre-
de-Grace company.

WHEREAS Samuel Hughes, John Adlum and Gabriel Christie, Jerusha Denison, widow and
executrix of the late Gideon Denison, Henry Denison, Minerva Denison, Eliza Denison
and Louisa Denison, children and representatives of the aforesaid Gideon Denison, all of Harford
