CHAP.
XXVIII.

IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the, trustee, or trustees appointed by virtue of this act shall be
accountable to the guardian of the said child, under the directions of the orphans court of the re-
spective, counties as aforesaid, and pay over the money arising from the sale, of the land aforesaid,
in such manner as the respective courts aforesaid shall or may direct.

V. AND BE IT ENACTED, That any conveyance or deed made by the trustee or trustees afore-
said, pursuant to the directions of the orphans court of either of the aforesaid counties, in which the
land respectively doth lie, shall and is hereby declared to be valid and effectual to pass and convey
all the right, title and interest, of the said Amelia Chance, in and to the land aforesaid, to the pur-
chaser or purchasers of the same.

January, 1806.

CHAP. XXIX.

An ACT to continue the act therein mentioned.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of Samuel Weight, of
Queen-Anne's county, that an act, entitled, An act for the benefit of Samuel Wright, of
Queen-Anne's county, will expire on the first day of January next: And whereas the, reasons which
induced the legislature to pass that act still exist; therefore,


II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That an act, entitled, An act for the be-

nefit of Samuel Wright, of Queen-Anne's county, passed at November session, eighteen hundred
and three, be and the same is hereby continued until the first day of January, eighteen hundred and
ten.

C H A P. XXX.

An ACT to alter and change the name of William Sentee, of Har-
ford county, to the name of Carlen.

WHEREAS William Sentee, by his petition to this general assembly, hath set forth, that a
certain James Carlen, of Harford county, has adopted him, and intends to bequeath to him
a considerable portion of his property, in case his name shall be altered to the name of Carlen, and
praying that an act may pass for that purpose; and the same being reasonable, therefore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly, of Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful for the
said William Sentee, after the passage of this act, to take upon himself the surname, of Carlen, in-
stead of his present surname, and. also for the descendants of, the: said William Sentee to. take upon
themselves the surname of Carlen; and. the name of the said William Sentee shall be and is; hereby
changed and altered into the name of William Carlen, and the said William Sentee, and the heirs
of his body, shall at all times hereafter be called by, and hold and use the surname of Carlen only.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That all securities, promises, contracts, assurances, deeds and law-
ful acts whatsoever, heretofore made, or hereafter to be made, by or to the said William Sentee,
by the name and surname of William Carlen, shall be of the same force and effect, and equally avail,
to all intents and purposes, as if the, name and surname of William. Carlen had been his true and
proper name and surname from his birth, any law or custom to the contrary notwithstanding.

CHAP. XXXI.

An ACT to prevent persons from staking put seines across the rivers
Transquakin and Chickwiccomico, in Dorchester county.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of sundry inhabitants
of Dorchester county, that they have sustained great injuries and inconveniencies, from
persons staking out seines across the rivers Transquakin and Chickwiccomico, and thereby deprived
of those providential benefits arising from the waters of the said rivers, in the procuring of fish at
particular seasons of the year: And whereas it is deemed improper that any person or person's
should be tolerated to invade and destroy the periodical benefits offered by the benevolent hand of
nature; therefore,

II. BE, IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That if any person or persons, after the
passage of this act, shall fix or set any seine or seines across the rivers Transquakin and Chickwic-
comico, or aid and assist therein, by which fish may be obstructed in going up or coming down said
rivers, every such person or persons so offending, shall forfeit and pay the sum of one hundred dol-
