certain rivers and bays in Anne Arundel County shall be
subject to haul seining with seines not longer than fifty
feet and providing a penalty for violation of the pro-
visions of this sub-section.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sub-section (d) of Section 261 of Article
66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Natural Resources, " sub-title "Tidal Waters, " be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
261.
(d) It shall be unlawful to drag or use any haul seine
for the catching of fish in the waters of Monie Bay and its
tributaries easterly of a straight line drawn from Long
Point in Somerset County to Wingate Point in Somerset
County. In the waters of Herring Bay in Anne Arundel
County from a line drawn from the extreme projection of
Parker's Island Point into the Chesapeake Bay to the ex-
treme point of Holland Point, in the waters of South River,
Rhode River and West River in Anne Arundel County from
a line drawn from the extreme projection from Thomas
Point into the Chesapeake Bay to the extreme point of
Curtis Point, within the headlands of White Hall Creek
in Anne Arundel County and within the headlands of
Meredith Creek AND LAKE OGLETON in Anne Arundel
County, it shall be unlawful to use any haul seine more
than 50 feet in length. Any person violating the provisions
of this sub-section shall [be subject to the penalties im-
posed by Section 300 of this sub-title, and in addition
thereto, any seine or seines, together with any equipment
and boats used in the violation of this sub-section, shall be
confiscated. ] be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon convic-
tion thereof shall be fined a sum of not less than $500. 00
nor more than $2, 500. 00 and shall stand committed in the
Baltimore City jail or to the County jail until such fines and
costs are paid.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.
