voters shall be able to designate by a cross mark in the
proper square or box their respective votes for or against
said bond issue. If a majority of the votes cast shall be
"For Bond Issuance", then said bonds shall be issued and
sold, but if a majority of the votes cast shall be "Against
Bond Issuance", then said bonds shall not be issued or sold.
SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That this Act is here-
by declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported
by three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the
two Houses of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

(House Bill 752)
AN ACT to authorize and empower the Mayor and City
Council of Laurel, Prince George's County, to borrow an
amount not to exceed Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,-
000.00), said amount being in addition to the amount
authorized by Chapter 381 of the Acts of 1947, and to
issue its bonds, notes or other certificates of indebted-
ness therefor, for the purpose of purchasing a fire engine
or truck and the necessary equipment therefor, and to
levy municipal taxes to pay the principal and interest
of such indebtedness; and providing for a referendum
thereon.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Mayor and City Council of Laurel,
Prince George's County, be and it is hereby authorized and
empowered to borrow on the full faith and credit of said
town, in addition to the amount which it was authorized to
borrow by Chapter 381 of the Acts of 1947, an amount not
to exceed Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00), and to
issue its bonds, notes or other certificates of indebtedness
therefor, for the purpose of purchasing, for an amount not
exceeding the aggregate authorized by said Chapter 381 of
the Acts of 1947 and by this Act, a fire engine or truck and
