SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 717A of Article 22 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Washington County", sub-title "Roads", as said section
was enacted by Chapter 664 of the Acts of 1951, be and the
same is hereby repealed.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect January 1, 1955.

(House Bill 705)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments, Section
96 (d) of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-
title "Desertion of Wife or Child", empowering the
Magistrate for Juvenile Cases of Washington County to
hear cases involving neglect by children of needy parents.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 96 (d) of Article 27 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Crimes and
Punishments", sub-title "Desertion of Wife or Child", be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
and to read as follows:
96.
(d) In addition to the other duties now imposed by law
upon the magistrate for Juvenile Cases in Washington
County, he shall have original and exclusive jurisdiction to
hear, try and determine all cases involving desertion of or
the wilful neglect by a husband or father to provide for the
support and maintenance of his wife or minor child or
children, or by a child to provide for the support and main-
tenance of needy parents in accordance with the provisions
of this section and of Section 112 of this Article, upon a
warrant or warrants issued for that purpose. Any person
