tions stated in this sub-title, shall be a resident of the Town
of District Heights, and shall qualify by taking the oath
of office within three (3) days after his said appointment.
(U) In making appointment to fill any such vacancy in
the office of Commissioner the remaining qualified Com-
missioners shall make such appointment by entering in
the minute books of said Commission the fact of their mak-
ing such appointment, and the same day notifying the per-
son so appointed of his said appointment.
(V) Until the first election to be held under the pro-
visions of this Act, and until their successors have been
duly elected and qualified, the Commissioners holding office
at the date of the going into effect of this Act shall hold
their respective offices unless they, or any of them, shall
become otherwise disqualified under the provisions hereof.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That all Acts incon-
sistent with this Act are hereby repealed to the extent of
their inconsistency.
SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That the unconstitu-
tionality, invalidity, or unforceability of any part of this
Act shall not affect the remaining parts thereof.
SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
not become effective until it shall have been submitted to
the qualified voters of the Town of District Heights, Mary-
land, at the next regular municipal election, or at a special
election to be held on such date as shall be determined by
the District Heights Commission. There shall be printed
on the ballots to be used at said election, the title of this
Act and underneath said title on separate lines, a square
box to the right of and opposite the words "For A Five
Member Board and Wards" and a corresponding square or
box to the right of and opposite the words "Against a Five
Member Board and Wards", so that the voter shall be able
to designate by cross mark in the proper square or box
his or her decision for or against said proposed amend-
ment. If a majority of the votes cast on said question
shall be "For A Five Member Board and Wards", then this
Act shall become effective immediately. If a majority of
the votes cast thereon shall be "Against a Five Member
Board and Wards'', then this Act shall be null and void
and of no effect whatosever.
