496. Any and all laws or parts of laws or any part or
parts of the Charter of the Town conflicting in any way
herewith are hereby repealed, with respect to the authority
hereby granted, to the extent of such conflict, and except
as herein provided, none of the limitations or restrictions
on the powers of the Town to borrow money, to levy taxes
or to issue and sell bonds contained in its charter or in any
other law which limits, restricts or affects the powers
herein granted, shall be applicable hereto.
497. The Town be and it is hereby authorized and
empowered to do all acts and things necessary to issue
and sett said bonds and to do all things necessary to carry
out the purposes of this Act, even though the same may
not be specifically mentioned herein or in the Charter of
the Town or in any other Act relating to the Town.
498. At a special municipal election in the Town of
Union Bridge, to be catted by the said Mayor and Com-
mon Council of Union Bridge and held on a date not less
than thirty days after the effective date of this Act, there
shall be submitted to the qualified voters of Union Bridge
the question whether bonds shall be issued for said sewer-
age system and sewage treatment plant in Union Bridge,
and at such special election, the ballots to be used and cast
upon such question shall contain the words "For Bond
Issue for Sewerage System and Sewage Treatment Plant"
and "Against Bond Issue for Sewerage System and Sew-
age Treatment Plant" thereon, and if a majority of the
votes cast at said special election upon said question shall
be "For Bond Issue for Sewerage System and Sewage
Treatment Plant", then the Mayor and Common Council
of Union Bridge shall proceed to execute the powers vested
in them, by this Act; but if a majority of the votes cast
at said special election upon said question shall be "Against
Bond Issue for Sewerage System and Sewage Treatment
Plant", then said powers shall not be exercised or exe-
cuted, and this Act shall be of no effect, provided, however,
that the same question may be voted upon in the same
manner at any subsequent municipal election, in the dis-
cretion of said Mayor and Common Council of Union
Bridge, and if at such future time this Act shall be passed
upon favorable, the provisions hereof shall then become
immediately effective.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted by the General
Assembly of Maryland, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1953.
