by the municipal agency designated in the annual Ordi-
nances of Estimates of the Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore.

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

CHAPTER 222
(House Bill 379)

AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more to issue the certificates of indebtedness of said
corporation to an amount not exceeding One Million Dol-
lars ($1, 000, 000), the proceeds of the same to be used
for the acquisition, by purchase or condemnation or any
other legal means, of land or property, or any rights
therein, in the general vicinity of the University of
Maryland Hospital in the City of Baltimore, and for con-
structing, erecting and equipping a new health district
building or structure on any land or property acquired
under the provisions hereof or on any land or property
now or hereafter owned by the Mayor and City Council
of Baltimore in the general vicinity of the University
of Maryland Hospital; said new building or structure to
be used by the Health Department of Baltimore City for
or in connection with the functions and activities carried
on by the Health Department of Baltimore City for the
protection of the health of the people of said city; and
to authorize said municipality to submit an ordinance
or ordinances for said purpose to the legal voters of
Baltimore City.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore
be and it is hereby authorized to issue the certificates of
indebtedness of said corporation to an amount not exceed-
ing One Million Dollars ($1, 000, 000), said certificates of
