SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

(Senate Bill 146)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
44 of Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land (130 Edition), title "Carroll County, " sub-title
"County Commissioners, " as said section was enacted by
Chapter 538 of the Acts of 1947, authorizing the County
Commissioners to levy annually such sum as they may
deem necessary for public health purposes.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 44 of Article 7 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Carroll County, "
sub-title "County Commissioners, " as said section was
enacted by Chapter 538 of the Acts of 1947, be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

44. The County Commissioners of Carroll County are
hereby authorized and directed to accept, in fee simple,
title to such Carroll County War Memorial Medical Center
as the Carroll County War Memorial Committee may erect
in said County; provided, however, that such War Memor-
ial Medical Center shall not be accepted by said County
Commissioners until the same shall have been fully and
completely constructed, equipped and entirely paid for; and
the said County Commissioner of Carroll County are fur-
ther authorized [and directed] to levy annually, on the
assessable property of said County [, beginning the first
calendar year after the acceptance of the deed to the afore-
said War Memorial Medical Center, and annually there-
after, a sum not less than three cents ($. 03) on each one
hundred dollars ($100) of the assessable property in said
County, which said sum shall be used by the said County
