"North East", modifying the provisions of said section
as to the power of arrest for certain offenses without a
warrant.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary land,
That Section 299 of Article 8 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Cecil County",
sub-title "North East", be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
299. They may provide by ordinance for the [im-
mediate] arrest [, without warrant] of any person violat-
ing any town ordinance by riotous or disorderly conduct,
or driving or riding through the streets [, when in the
judgment of the President or any of the Commissioners
or the bailiff of the town, the delay necessary to the issuing
of a warrant will be dangerous to the peace and quiet of
the town, or the lives, limbs or property of the citizens];
and when it shall appear that the offender is intoxicated
so as to render it unsafe to permit him to drive through
the streets, they shall provide for the removal of the horse
and vehicle without the limits of the town, or for the
deposit thereof in some place of security until the offender
shall be sober, and may subject the property so taken and
deposited to the payment of the costs of the proceedings
and the keeping of said property until the same shall be
released according to law, and may confine the offender in
some secure place until he shall be sober.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.
