(House Bill 418)
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 27 of the An-
notated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Crimes
and Punishments", sub-title "Cruelty to Animals", said
new section to be known as Section 87A and to follow
immediately after Section 87 of said sub-title, making
unlawful the poisoning of dogs.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be added to Article 27 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title
"Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Cruelty to Animals",
said new section to be known as Section 87A and to follow
immediately after Section 87 of said sub-title, and to read
as follows:
87A. Whoever UNLAWFULLY KILLS OR wilfully and
maliciously UNLAWFULLY KILLS OR administers
poison or ground glass to any dog or exposes any poisonous
substance or ground glass, on his own lands or the lands
of another, with intent that the said poisonous substance
or ground glass be taken or swallowed by a dog shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall
be fined for each offense, not more than One Hundred Dol-
lars ($100. 00).
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.
