have waived the benefits thereof by accepting the payment
of benefits under this Article.
6.
(2). The Board of Trustees shall fix and determine by
appropriate rules and regulations how much service in any
year is equivalent to one year of service, but except as
otherwise provided, in no case shall it allow credit for a
period of absence without pay of more than a month's
duration nor shall more than one year of service be cred-
itable for all service in one calendar year. The Board of
Trustees, under such rules and regulations as it shall adopt,
shall allow credit, however, to members absent in the mili-
tary service during World War I for the period of their
absence, provided that such members were employees when
they entered such military service and within one year
from the date of their discharge again became employees.
Service rendered for the full normal working time in any
year shall be equivalent to one year's service. Persons
holding elective or appointive positions shall receive a full
year's credit for each full year during which such person
has held or holds such position.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1953.

CHAPTER 57
(House Bill 41)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
6 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951
Edition), title "Public Education, " sub-title "Chapter 2.
Formation of Boards, " and to add a new Section 12A to
said Article and sub-title, to follow immediately after
Section 12 thereof, providing that the County Board of
Education of Wicomico County shall consist of five (5)
members and relating generally to the appointment and
tenure of said members.
