CHAPTER 26
(Senate Bill 12)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
99 and 112 of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1951 Edition), title "Justices of the Peace," sub-
title "Trial Magistrates System," providing for the
handling of monies received by the several trial magis-
trates in the State for fines, forfeitures, penalties and
costs imposed and collected by them in cases involving
violations of the motor vehicle laws and giving to the
Commissioner of Motor Vehicles a power by regulation to
require an additional amount of bond to be filed by such
trial magistrates if deemed necessary or advisable in
relation to the amount of such monies collected by them
individually.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 99 and 112 of Article 52 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Justices
of the Peace," sub-title "Trial Magistrates System," be and
they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

99. (Reimbursement to Counties.) Every trial magis-
trate shall promptly deposit in a bank or banks as specified
by the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles, in an account or
accounts opened in his official capacity, all fines, forfei-
tures, penalties and costs imposed and collected by him in
cases involving violations of the motor vehicle laws. All
monies so deposited shall be subject only to the order of
such trial magistrate or his lawfully constituted successor
in office for the purpose of remitting to the Commissioner
of Motor Vehicles the monies so collected and deposited.
The trial" magistrates shall promptly report and remit to
the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles, in accordance with
the Motor Vehicle Laws, all fines, forfeitures, penalties
and costs imposed and collected by them in cases of viola-
tions of said law. The Commissioner of Motor Vehicles
shall keep separate accounts for each of the Trial Magis-
trates in the State. Not later than the fifteenth day of each
month, the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles shall remit to
