sub-title "Health-Narcotic Drugs", as amended by Chap-
ter 17 of the Acts of 1952, and to repeal and re-enact
with amendments Section 355 of Article 27 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Crimes
and Punishments", sub-title "Health-Narcotic Drugs",
amending the definitions and the provisions as to prep-
arations exempt under the Uniform. Narcotic Drug Act.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 345 (o) of Article 27 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), as amended by
Chapter 17 of the Acts of 1952, title "Crimes and Punish-
ments", sub-title "Health-Narcotic Drugs", and that Sec-
tion 355 of said Article 27, be and they are hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
345 (o) "Narcotic Drugs" means coca leaves, opium,
cannabis, and every other substance [not] neither chem-
ically nor physically distinguishable from them, and any
other drugs to which the Federal Narcotic Laws may not
apply. In addition, the term "Narcotic Drugs" shall mean
the following:
(1) "Ispnipecaine," which means the substance identi-
fied chemically as l-methyl-4-phenyl-piperidine-4-carbox-
ylic acid ethylester or any salt thereof by whatever trade
name identified.
(2) "Amidone," which means the substance identified
chemically as 4, 4-Diphenyl-6-Dimethylamino-Heptantone-
3, or any salt or form thereof by whatever trade name
identified.
(3) "Dromoran," which means the substance identified
chemically as 3-hydroxy-N-methylmorphinan, or any salt
or form thereof by whatever trade name identified.
The term "Narcotic Drugs" also shall be taken to include
any drug or substance similar to those listed hereinabove,
whether synthetic or otherwise and whether or not phys-
ically distinguishable from those listed hereinabove, and
whatever may be its trade name, [having] found by the
State Board of Health, after reasonable notice and oppor-
tunity for hearing, to have comparable habit-forming
qualities and effects of habituation, from the effective date
of determination of such finding by said State Board of
Health.
