land (1951 Edition), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title
"Administration—Registration—Titling", further defin-
ing the reasons for which alternate means of registration
and identification of motor vehicles may be adopted and
stating the legislative intent in the passage of this Act.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 30 (c) of Article 6614 of the An-
notated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Motor
Vehicles", sub-title "Administration—Registration—Tit-
ling", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
30.
(c) During any period of National or other emergency,
by reason of a shortage of materials or for other cause,
the Department may with the approval of the Governor
adopt and issue such other means of registration and identi-
fication as the Department may deem sufficient. The De-
partment may, with the approval of the Governor, adopt a
permanent registration system and design and adopt perma-
nent registration plates in such form as to make effective
such system. It is the legislative intent that sub-section (a)
of this section should be generally adhered to as the policy
of the State in the issuance of motor vehicle registration
plates.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1954.
