thirty (30) days nor more than six (6) months, or both
such fine and imprisonment. Upon a second or subsequent
conviction under the provisions of this section, the same
penalties shall apply except that imprisonment for at least
SO days shall be mandatory, PROVIDED, HOWEVER,
THAT THE MANDATORY PROVISIONS OF THIS
SECTION MAY BE SUSPENDED OR MODIFIED BY
THE JUDGES OF THE CIRCUIT COURTS OF THE
SEVERAL COUNTIES AND THE JUDGES OF THE
CRIMINAL COURTS OF BALTIMORE CITY.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1954.

CHAPTER 19
(House Bill 12)
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 66 1/2 of the An-
notated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Motor
Vehicles," sub-title "Motor Vehicle Financial Responsi-
bility," said new section to be known as Section 122A and«
to follow immediately after Section 122 of said Article,
providing that the motor vehicle operating privileges and
registrations of residents suspended or revoked under the
laws of other states for failure to deposit security for
satisfaction of judgments arising out of a motor vehicle
accident, shall be suspended in this State, and further
providing for reciprocity with the motor vehicle financial
responsibility laws of this and other states.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and it is hereby added to
Article 66 1/2 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951
Edition), title "Motor Vehicles," sub-title "Motor Vehicle
Financial Responsibility," said new section to be known as
Section 122A, to follow immediately after Section 122 of
said Article, and to read as follows:
122A. (a) When a non-resident's operating privilege is
suspended or revoked pursuant to Section 119, the Depart-
