ACQUISITION

85. The Town of Friendsville may buy or accept as a
gift any property it deems necessary for any public or mu-
nicipal purpose, and may sell, lease, or otherwise dispose of
any property belonging to the town.

CONDEMNATION

86. The Town of Friendsville shall have the power to
condemn any property, right, or interest, belonging to any
person, persons, corporation, or corporations (whether
such corporation be public or private, and whether or not
such property, right or interest be impressed with a prior
public or quasi-public use) for the purpose of making
any public improvement. The manner of procedure in case
of any condemnation proceeding shall be that established in
Article 33A of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title
"Eminent Domain. " By way of enumeration and not limita-
tion, public improvements shall be construed to include
sewers, drains, disposal plants, water systems, water
plants, water, and water courses, rights-of-way, public
ways, sidewalks, public parks, markets, and parking lots.

PROTECTION

87. The Town of Friendsville shall have the power to
do whatever may be necessary to protect town property
and to keep all town property in good condition.

ARTICLE XII

MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS
OATH OF OFFICE

88. The following persons, before entering upon the
duties of their offices, shall make oath before a trial magis-
trate of Garrett County or some other person qualified to
administer oaths that they will diligently and faithfully,
without partiality, favor, or prejudice and well and truly
perform the duties of their office: the mayor, the members
of the council, the clerk-treasurer, the members of the
Board of Supervisors of Elections, and such other officers
and employees of the town as the council may require.
A certificate of each oath shall be returned to the council
and shall be recorded in the minutes of the council.
