Edition, as enacted by Chapter 13 of the Acts of the
Extraordinary Session of 1948), title "Calvert County, "
sub-title "Licenses, " and to enact in lieu thereof five
new sections of said Article, to be known as Sections
176-177C, inclusive, and to follow immediately after
Section 175 of said Article, removing from the operation
of Sections 288 to 307, inclusive, of Article 27, of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
"Crime and Punishment, " sub-title "Gaming, " the opera-
tion of certain coin operated gambling machines in Cal-
vert County, relating to the legalizing, licensing, and
regulating the operation of coin operated mechanical
or electrical amusement and/or gambling devices or ma-
chines, and the distribution thereof in Calvert County,
and providing for the disposition of funds derived from
such licensing.

WHEREAS, The General Assembly provided, in its Ex-
traordinary Session of 1948 for the licensing of certain
devices in order to provide a sum $250, 000 for the develop-
ment of hospital facilities in Calvert County, which sum
was based on then existing construction costs and prices;
and

WHEREAS, such costs and prices have risen materially
since 1948, so that, with plans for a new hospital for Cal-
vert County nearing completion, it is now apparent that
the cost will be $300, 000 to provide the facilities contem-
plated in the 1948 Act; and

WHEREAS, with such plans virtually completed, the cost
of maintaining the said hospital, after it is completed,
over and above its anticipated revenues is estimated to be
$12, 000 per year; and

WHEREAS, the sewage and water supply systems in
North Beach are in great need of improvement which can-
not be undertaken with funds presently available, such
improvement being of vital importance not only to the
health and welfare of the people of that city, but to the
people of Calvert County as a whole; now therefore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 176-177C, inclusive, of Article 5 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition, as en-
acted by Chapter 13 of the Acts of the Extraordinary Ses-
sion of 1948), title "Calvert County, " sub-title "Licenses, "
be and they are hereby repealed, and that five new sec-
tions of said Article, to be known as Sections 176-177C,
