CHAPTER 104
(House Bill 125)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 64A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Merit System, " said
new section to be known as Section 11A and to follow im-
mediately after Section 11 of said Article, requiring that
assistance be granted to physically handicapped persons
while taking examinations for positions in the Merit System,
under certain conditions.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
64A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
"Merit System, " said new section to be known as Section 11A,
to follow immediately after Section 11 of said Article, and to
read as follows:

11 A. The Commissioner shall extend suitable assistance dur-
ing any examination to any person who by reason of blindness
or other physical handicap is unable to read the examination
or otherwise to comply with mechanical or procedural require-
ments of the examination, if such requirements do not go to
the substance of the examination and would not be necessary
in the position for which the examination is being held.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951.

CHAPTER 105

(House Bill 127)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
322 and 725 of Article 11 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Frederick County", sub-
titles "Frederick City", and "Sheriff", providing for a reduc-
tion in sentence to prisoners who work on the County roads
or on the streets of said City.
