THEODORE R. MCKELDIN, GOVERNOR 1807

SEC. 6. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS
ACT SHALL TAKE EFFECT JUNE 1, 1951. IT IS HERE-
BY DECLARED TO BE THE LEGISLATIVE INTENT
THAT THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT SHALL APPLY,
WITH RESPECT TO TAXPAYERS REPORTING ON A
CALENDAR YEAR BASIS, FOR ALL YEARS BEGIN-
NING JANUARY 1, 1951, OR THEREAFTER, AND THAT
THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT SHALL APPLY, WITH
RESPECT TO TAXPAYERS REPORTING ON A FISCAL
YEAR BASIS FOR ALL FISCAL YEARS BEGINNING
AFTER JANUARY 1, 1951.

CHAPTER 598
(Senate Bill 138)

AN ACT to repeal Section 23 of Article 64A of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1939 Ed. ), title "Merit Sys-
tem, " repealing obsolete provisions relating to classifica-
tion of positions made by the Employment Commissioner.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 23 of Article 64A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Ed. ), title "Merit System", be and the
same is hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1951.

Approved April 30, 1951.

(Senate Bill 142)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tion 2 of Article 64A of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1947 Supplement), title "Merit System, " exclud-
ing from the Classified Service part-time employees.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
