WHEREAS, said sub-section has the further provision that
any change in the Federal law in this respect shall have the
effect of making a similar; change in the State law; and
WHEREAS, the Federal law now as a matter of fact does not
require citizenship in order to receive old age assistance; and
WHEREAS, at the present time Maryland does not receive
matching funds for residents of Maryland who are not citizens
of the United States but who are otherwise eligible for old-age
assistance, since they must be placed on the relief rolls under
General Public Assistance, the cost of which is paid entirely
by the State without assistance from the Federal government;
now, therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sub-section 3(b) of Article 70 A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Old Age Assist-
ance", be and the same is hereby repealed.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951.

(House Bill 29)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 16
of Article 30 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947
Supplement), title "Deaf, Dumb and Blind", sub-title
"Public Assistance to the Needy Blind", as amended by
Chapter 77 of the Acts of 1950, to bring the State law as to
public assistance to the needy blind in conformity with
Federal laws.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 16 of Article 30 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Deaf, Dumb and Blind",
sub-title "Public Assistance to the Needy Blind", as amended
by Chapter 77 of the Acts of 1950, be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
16. (Amount of Assistance. ) The amount of public assist-
ance to the needy blind which any recipient shall receive shall
