such vendee has its principal place of business in the State
of Maryland [; and], but in any case of any item affixed to
real property, such recording shall be
where such property is
located and may also be where the vendee resides, or where a
corporate or partnership vendee has its principal place of busi-
ness in this State.
Such recording shall be sufficient to give
actual or constructive notice to such parties when a memo-
randum of the paper writing signed by the vendee or vendees,
setting forth the date thereof, the amount due thereon, when
and how payable, [and] a brief description of the goods and

chattels therein mentioned and, in the case of any item
affixed to real property, a reference sufficient for identifica-
tion purposes to such real property, shall have been recorded
with the Clerk aforesaid, but it shall not be necessary that
said paper AND HOW PAYABLE AND A BRIEF DESCRIP-
TION OF THE GOODS AND CHATTELS THEREIN MEN-
TIONED SHALL HAVE BEEN RECORDED WITH THE
CLERK AFORESAID, PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT,
AS TO ANY ITEM AFFIXED TO REAL PROPERTY, SUCH
RECORDING SHALL BE SUFFICIENT TO GIVE NOTICE
TO SUCH THIRD PARTIES IN TRANSACTIONS IN-
VOLVING SUCH REAL PROPERTY ONLY WHEN THE
MEMORANDUM SHALL ALSO CONTAIN A REFERENCE
TO SUCH PROPERTY SUFFICIENT FOR IDENTIFICA-
TION PURPOSES AND WHEN SUCH MEMORANDUM
HAS BEEN CROSS-INDEXED IN THE LAND RECORDS
AS PROVIDED IN SECTION 65 OF ARTICLE 17. IT
SHALL NOT BE NECESSARY THAT SAID PAPER writing
shall be acknowledged or an affidavit made to the considera-
tion therein expressed as in the case of bills of sale.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That a new sub-para-
graph be and it is hereby added to sub-section (a) of Section 12
of Article 36 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edi-
tion and 1947 Supplement), title "Fees of Officers, " sub-title
"Clerks of Court, " said new sub-paragraph to be known as
sub-paragraph (20A), to follow immediately after sub-para-
graph (20) of said subsection (a), and to read as follows:

(20A) For indexing among Land Records and general alpha-
betical index any conditional contract of sale of any item
which is or is to be
affixed to real property, $. 25 for each name
indexed.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951.
