AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 34
of Article 99 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947
Supplement), title "Birds, Game and Inland Water Fish",
sub-title "Field Trials", relating to the use of pheasants and
mallard ducks at field trials.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 34 of Article 99 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Birds, Game and Inland
Water Fish", sub-title "Field Trials", be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
34. (a) It shall be unlawful to hold field trials with dogs in
this State during any closed hunting season unless permission
to do so is granted by the Director, and any Club or Associa-
tion holding a field trial during any closed hunting season
shall not be allowed to shoot, or shoot at any game of any
species which is protected by law; provided, however, that
pheasants and mallard ducks reared and purchased under Sec-
tions 67 and 68 of this Article may be shot in flight immedi-
ately upon release at retriever trials after said pheasants and
ducks have been properly identified.
(b) Any person or persons owning any raccoon or opossum,
bird or rabbit dog or dogs, who desires to train said dog or dogs
during any closed hunting season for the purpose of entering
said dog or dogs in any field trial must secure a permit by
applying to the Director to train said dog or dogs during any
closed hunting season.
