(House Bill 26)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-section
37 (e) and Section 40 of Article 88A of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "State Department
of Public Welfare", sub-title "Aid to Dependent Children",
changing the definition and laws as to aid to dependent
children in order to bring the State law into accord with
the Federal law.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sub-section 37 (e) and Section 40 of Article 88A
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title
"State Department of Public Welfare", sub-title "Aid to De-
pendent Children", be and they are hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
37.
(e) "Assistance" means money payments with, respect to a
dependent child or children, and payments necessary for serv-
ices for such children, including the specified relative with
whom the dependent child or children is living.
40. (Eligibility for Assistance to Dependent Children. )
Assistance shall be given] tinder this sub-title to any dependent
child who:
(a) Has resided in this State for one year immediately pre-
ceding the application for such assistance; or who was born
[within the State] within one year immediately preceding the
application, [and whose mother] if the parent or other rela-
tive with whom the child is living has resided in [the] this
State for one year immediately preceding the birth of said
child; or whose parent has resided in this State for one year
