and in the case where such certificates are transmitted by the
deputy local registrar such deputy local registrar shall receive
such fee instead. Provided, however, that in Charles County
the local registrar shall be
entitled to receive the sum
of $1. 00 for each birth or death certificate where said certifi-
cates are issued in compliance with this sub-title.

(2) For each transcript of a birth or death certificate as
provided in Section 16 of this Article copied and transmitted
by him to the county registrar, the local registrar shall receive
the sum of ten cents, to be paid by the County upon warrant
of the County Commissioners.

(b) The State Board of Health shall certify to the County
Commissioners of each county annually, or more often, the
number of properly executed certificates of birth and death
received from each local or deputy local registrar for which
fees are provided by this section.

(c) The State Board of Health shall certify on each pay-
ment voucher the total amount owing to each local or deputy
local registrar for that county for the period covered by such
voucher, provided that said Board shall certify separately the
number of incomplete, defective or belated certificates, and for
such incomplete, defective or belated certificates a fee shall
be certified equal to one-half the amount of compensation
provided in this section for prompt, proper and correct cer-
tificates and records of birth and death.

26. (Certified Copies. )

(a) The State Board of Health may upon request furnish
any applicant for proper purposes a certified copy of any birth
or death registered under the provisions of this sub-title or of
the record of a marriage received pursuant to the provisions
of Section 18 of Article 62 (1947 Supplement, as amended).
The Commissioner of Health of Baltimore City may furnish
any applicant for proper purposes a certified copy of any
birth or death record registered by him under authority of the
State Board of Health as provided in Section 14 (b) of Article
43.

(b) For each such certified statement of a birth or death,
or for a report that, after search, the requested record was
found to be not on file, said Board shall collect a fee of fifty
cents; for each such certified statement of a marriage, or for a
report that, after search, the requested record was found to
be not on file, said Board shall collect a fee of one dollar.

(c) No charge shall be made for a copy of a certificate
requested by any person formerly or currently in any war
