CHAPTER 520
(House Bill 737)

AN ACT to authorize and empower The Mayor and Council of
Salisbury to borrow upon the faith and credit of Salisbury
a sum or sums of money not exceeding Eight Hundred and
Fifty Thousand Dollars ($850, 000. 00) EIGHT HUNDRED
AND TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($810, 000. 00) and to
issue bonds for the payment of the same and to use the
proceeds thereof for the purpose of acquiring and con-
structing a sewage treatment plant and appurtenances, the
lands, improvements and rights necessary therefor, and all
expenses incidental thereto; to levy upon all assessable
property in the City of Salisbury and to collect taxes
thereon in an amount sufficient to pay the principal and
interest on said bonds, to establish sewer rental or service
charges for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the
construction and maintenance of said sewage treatment
plant.

WHEREAS, by Chapter 103 of the Acts of the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, (1949 Session), The Mayor and Council of
Salisbury was authorized to borrow the sum of Four Hundred
Thousand Dollars ($400, 000. 00) for the purpose of acquiring
and constructing a sewage treatment plant and garbage in-
cinerator plant; and

WHEREAS, The construction of said garbage incinerator
plant has been substantially completed but insufficient funds
remain for the construction of said sewage treatment plant:
now, therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That for the purpose of providing additional funds for
the acquisition, construction, design and establishment of a
sewage treatment plant, including the machines, tanks, devices,
pipe and all mechanical, electrical and chemical equipment and
supplies, lateral and trunk sewers and sewage pumping sta-
tions, lands, improvements, water courses, water rights and
other property and appurtenances necessary therefor, and all
other expenses incidental thereto, either within or outside the
corporate limits of the City of Salisbury, The Mayor and Coun-
