AN ACT to add four new sections to the Anne Arundel County
Code (1947 Edition, being Article 2 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland), title "Anne Arundel County, "
sub-title "State's Attorney, " said new sections to be known
as Sections 549A, 549B, 549C and 549D and to follow imme-
diately after Section 549, creating the office of Assistant
State's Attorney for Anne Arundel County and providing
for his compensation, powers and duties.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That four new sections be and they are hereby added to
the Anne Arundel County Code (1947 Edition, being Article 2
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Anne
Arundel County, " sub-title "State's Attorney, " said new sec-
tions to be known as Sections 549A, 549B, 549C and 549D and
to follow immediately after Section 549 and to read as follows:
549A. The State's Attorney for Anne Arundel County is
hereby authorized and empowered to appoint an Assistant
State's Attorney, with the approval of the Judges of the Fifth
Judicial Circuit, at a compensation to be fixed by the County
Commissioners of Anne Arundel County; and said Assistant
State's Attorney shall perform such duties in the State's At-
torney's office as he may direct and as he is now or may here-
after be authorized by law to perform.
549B. The Assistant State's Attorney shall, when directed
by the State's Attorney for Anne Arundel County, present
cases to the Grand Jury of Anne Arundel County, and perform
such other acts and duties, investigative and otherwise, in
relation to said Grand Jury as are necessary and proper.
549C. The Assistant State's Attorney appointed under the
provisions of Section 549A shall, before entering upon the
