AN ACT to add a new section to the Anne Arundel County
Code (1947 Edition), being Article 2 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel County", sub-
title "County Commissioners", sub-heading "Fire District
Zones", said new section to be known as Section 243A and
to follow immediately after Section 243 of said Article,
authorizing and empowering the County Commissioners of
Anne Arundel County and the Mayor and Aldermen of the
City of Annapolis to enter into contracts or agreements for
furnishing fire department services without the corporate
limits of the City of Annapolis and authorizing the levying of
special taxes to provide for the payment of such services.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to the Anne
Arundel County Code (1947 Edition), being Article 2 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel
County", sub-title "County Commissioners", sub-heading "Fire
District Zones", said new section to be known as Section 243A,
to follow immediately after Section 243 of said Article, and to
read as follows:

243A. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
are hereby authorized and empowered to enter into a contract
or agreement with the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of
Annapolis for the rendering of fire department services to any
area lying without the corporate limits of the City of Annap-
olis, on such terms and conditions as shall be mutually agreed
upon from time to time by said County Commissioners and
Mayor and Aldermen. The County Commissioners shall also
have the authority and power to provide the funds for making
payments for such fire department services to any area or areas
by levying a special tax upon the properties located in the area
or areas so furnished such fire department services, which tax
shall be collected as other taxes on the properties in said areas.

The Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Annapolis is hereby
authorized and empowered to enter into a contract or agree-
ment with the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
for furnishing such fire department services.
