SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote supported by three-
fifths of all of the members elected to each of the two Houses
of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 399
(House Bill 514)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
156B of Article 15 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Kent County, " sub-title
"County Treasurer, " as said section was enacted by Chapter
511 of the Acts of 1941, relating to the deposit of funds by
the County Treasurer of Kent County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Section 156B of Article 15 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Kent County",
sub-title "County Treasurer, " as said section was enacted by
Chapter 511 of the Acts of 1941, be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

156B. (a) It shall be the duty of the County Treasurer
each year during the term of his office, as soon as the annual
levy is made, to give public notice thereof by advertisement
inserted once in at least two newspapers printed and published
in Kent County and the taxes so levied shall be due and pay-
able on the first day of April of the year in which they are so
levied. It shall be the duty of said Treasurer on or before
the first day of April, to make up, prepare and mail or deliver
to each tax payer, whose name appears on the assessment
books for Kent County, a statement, bill or account of his
or her assessment as well as the amount of taxes due thereon.

(b) It shall be his duty to deposit daily in one or more
Banks in [Chestertown] Kent County all State and County
