Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
public recognition be given of the services rendered by the
late Hon. William Curran and that a copy of this resolution
be sent by the Secretary of State to his family.

(Senate Joint Resolution 8)
Senate Joint Resolution directing the Governor and the
Board of Public Works to reduce the Budget for the next
fiscal year by at least One Million Five Hundred Thirty
Thousand Dollars ($1,530,000) of General Funds, under
the provisions and within the limitations of Section 9
of Article 15A of the Annotated Code of Maryland.
Whereas, the Senate and the House of Delegates of
Maryland, from a study of the budget submitted, are con-
vinced that the expenditures provided for in the budget for
the next fiscal year may be reduced by at least $1,530,000
without any sacrifice in the efficient operation of the State
government; and
Whereas, the Governor and the Board of Public Works
by Joint Resolution No. 13 and Joint Resolution No. 18 of
1951 were directed to reduce the budget by at least
$1,000,000, this reduction having resulted in no undue
hardship according to the testimony of heads of the several
State departments; now therefore be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Governor and the Board of Public Works be and they are
hereby directed to reduce such items of appropriation as
they may deem most advisable in the budget for the next
fiscal year by amounts which will aggregate at least
$1,530,000 of General Funds, all in conformity with and
subject to limitations of Section 9 of Article 15A of the
Annotated Code of Maryland.
