Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 77 of Article 100 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1947 Supp.), title "Work—Hours of,
in Factories", sub-title "State Employees", be and the same
is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
77. (a) Every State employee except per diem and hour-
ly employees who works in excess of [forty-eight (48)]
forty-four (44) hours in any week shall receive extra com-
pensation for such hours worked in excess of that time.
The amount of compensation for such excess shall be com-
puted by dividing the weekly compensation by [forty-
eight] forty-four and multiplying the resulting quotient by
the number of hours worked in excess of said [forty-eight]
forty-four hours.
(b) Every per diem State employee who works in excess
of [forty-eight] forty-four hours in any week shall receive
compensation for such hours worked in excess of that time.
The amount of compensation for such excess shall be com-
puted by dividing the per diem compensation by eight and
multiplying the resulting quotient by the number of hours
worked in excess of said [forty-eight] forty-four hours.
Provided, however, that the provisions of this section
shall not apply to the Department of Maryland State Police,
Game and Inland Fish Commission, Department of State
Forests and Parks and the Department of Tidewater
Fisheries.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall
take effect on July 1, 1952.
