CHAPTER 7
(Senate Bill 255)

AN ACT to add a new sub-section to Section 10 of Article
73B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947 Supple-
ment) , title "Pensions", said new sub-section to be known
as Sub-section (7) and to follow immediately after Sub-
section (6) of said section, relating to supplementary
payments to certain members who may be retired in the
future or their beneficiaries.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That a new sub-section be and it is hereby added
to Section 10 of Article 73B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1947 Supplement), title "Pensions", said new sub-
section to be known as Sub-section (7), to follow im-
mediately after Sub-section (6) of said section, and to read
as follows:

10.

(7). Supplementary Payments.

(a). The Board of Trustees is hereby authorized and
directed, subject to the conditions hereinafter provided, to
make supplementary payments to any beneficiary, or mem-
ber who may be retired from service in the future, in addi-
tion to the above payments, upon the following basis:

Beneficiaries Receiving          Supplement

Under $300              Increase to $600

$300- $599.99                 $300

$600- $749.99           Increase to $900

$750- $999.99                 20%

$1000-$1299.99                15%

$1300-$1635.99                10%

$1636-$1799.99          Increase to $1800

provided, however, that the Board of Trustees is hereby
authorized to adopt reasonable rules and regulations to
govern the payment of such supplementary payments,
which rules and, regulations shall include, but need not be
limited to, the following factors: (1) no beneficiary shall
