CHAP. 342.


said company for the first year after the passage of
this act, and until the regular annual election herein-
before prescribed shall take place.

Limit 1858.


SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this act shall con-
tinue and he in force until the year eighteen hundred
and fifty-eight, and until the end of the next General
Assembly thereafter.

Banking forbid.

SEC. 8. And, be it enacted, That nothing in this act
contained shall authorise said company to exercise
banking privileges or to issue any note in the nature
of a bank note, or certificate of deposite payable to
bearer.

Power reserved.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That if after the expira-
tion of seven years from the date of this act, complaints
be made to the General Assembly, and on investigation
thereof by a committee of either branch of the Legis-
lature, it should appear that the provisions of this
charter have been perverted to uses injurious to the
citizens of this State, the right is hereby reserved to
the General Assembly, then to modify or repeal the
same.

CHAPTER 342.

1838.

An act to confer certain powers on the Levy Court of
Worcester County in relation to sundry poor persons

in said County.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, by various acts of Assembly, passed for
the. relief of sundry poor persons in the several coun-
ties of this State, the levy court of Worcester county
are required to levy on the assessable property of said
county, for the support of certain indigent persons
therein named, certain sums of money; and whereas,
in some instances it is believed said relief has been
granted upon improper representations, and in others
the circumstances of said indigent persons have mate-
rially changed, so as to make such allowance improper;
and the levy court of said county being deemed well
qualified to decide upon the merits of the cases alluded
